coming back at 'cha

geeezzz am i the worst or what??  i haven't posted in 5 days! i totally effed up the layout and then spent hours trying to rebuild, and the worst is that i'm not even sure i like the new layout. it def needs some more work, but time is getting harder and harder to come by!however, i do pledge to do my best in these busy times....this blog is such a great outlet for me and i appreciate all the people who have checked it out, even when there is just a weirdo pic of a chick making a silly face (not meeeee, the cartoon picture from the previous post). so, here we go again--onwards and upwards!

let's start with today's events...i bought myself a little christmas present! i decided i needed a reward after getting all (read: most) of my christmas shopping done and shipped, and starting my christmas cards. plus there was an ahhhhmazing sale on gilt group today. email me if you want/need an invite...somedays it is just so worth it!!!! after much deliberation, paitence, and a little bit of fate, i officially became a gilt customer!

black friday

first of all, i am so sorry about the slow-down in posting! this time of year is what we in the retail industry like to call, “hella busy.” we’re ramping up for holiday sales, starting (and hopefully completing) projects to be done by the end of the year, and basically running around like chickens with our heads cut off trying to make this year’s numbers.

it’s also what we students like to call, “the end of the semester” and so I have my big final project to do and not a lot of free time to do it.

i’m not trying to throw myself a pity party or anything (but if you want to you can!) i just wanted to explain that is maybe a bit out of my league to post everyday. sorrrrrry!

BUT, while we are on the topic of retail craziness….here are some of the sale notices i’ve received. for those who do not work on Friday (ie, everyone not in retail) take advantage of some of these sales!!

our favorite project runway sponsor from like a million seasons ago is back in the game with fun daily deals

recently of half-yearly sale fame, this retailer is at it again with deep discounts

had your eye on that stella bag for a while now? well here's your chance to score it

oooh child keep me away from this one...the sales here get me everytime i can't even  imagine 50% off

ok so i heard a rumor that macbooks are going to be 25% and while this is COMPLETELY UNSUBSTANTIATED i will have my running shoes on in case its true and i need to run up the street to go buy one. same goes if the discount applies to ipod touches. again, this is not verified info. just sayin' tho.

there are soooo many more sales so get out there and go crazy! do me, and everyone else working on black friday, a big favor and go buy something! make it worth our time!

thanks! love! happy turkey day!

ta-hizzle

last week i left you all with some awesome art activities to do while i was in the middle of the woods in tahoe (=taheezy, ta-hizzle, ta to the hoe, etc). i spent most of the time carting around firewood, going on hikes, and eating pancakes, but it wouldn't be a weekend without a great shopping find. behold, the ultimate hipster sneakers that i bought for --are you ready for this? maybe you should be sitting down-- $2.49 at RITE-AID!!!! i know i know, i am one lucky girl.

hold up!

wait a minute!

i mean, whoa! aykm? this site is fantasitc! i just checked out theoutnet.com and have been trying to control the gasps and coos while cruising the site. i subscribe to a lot of different sale sites/emails, but the outnet is something different. first of all, the breadth and depth of their merchadise selcetion is amazing. they have everyting from juicy to 3.1 philip lim to burberry and celine. and all the sales are between 40% and 60% off! so that means you can get these pants (originally $340) for $102!! a pair of dress pants at h&m cost almost that much and these are hella nice and built to last! amazing!

my favorite part of the website is the "dress me" page. you need clothes for the office? hop on over to slick separates. feeling trendy? check out "back to the 80s" or "monochrome". not feeling trendy? that's cool too over in "classic styles". i loooooove this feature, it totally takes the hassle out of online shopping! (i know, i know. shopping sitting down is not a hassle per se, but clicking through endless pages of stuff you don't want is just annoying). remember to sort prices low-to-high so you don't get intimidated. oh, and! if it turns out that say, thakoon, just doesn't cut for your body, simply send it back for a full refund or exchange (not on shipping, duh). in the world of online shopping i don't think it gets any better than this.

so go ahead, put a little love in it!

tom-toms

while we're on the topic of shoes that are cute and affordable, i give you: TOMS with laces!!! now i don't usually go for laces, but a) these laces look minimally annoying and b) it says you don't even need them! these colors are perfect for fall, and in case you want two pairs (hey, decisions can be really hard to make some days) keep in mind that for every pair you buy for youself, a little kiddie in a developing country will get a pair too! sweet deal!

carousels and bows

In recent years I have noticed one major regression in my life. That is, I really don't like wearing pants or socks. I've rediscovered the little girl in me that wore smock dresses with tights and patent flats day in and day out, even whilst playing with the boys. Now, 20plus years later, I'll wear dresses and tights any day of the week, but it has to be some sort of an occasion to get me in pants. That, or they must be a really sick, perfectly-fitting, flattering, comfortable, and all around awesome pair of pants. Good luck with that, right? And socks? Fuhgettaboutit, I barely even bother with those anymore. They are, essentially, prisons for my feet.

That being said, I'm constantly on the lookout for tights to add to my ever-increasing collection. I have all sorts: colors, dens, footless/footed, striped, prints, Chanel (!!!my faves!!!), and lots and lots of opaque black--a San Francisco girl can never have enough black tights. The only tights missing from my collection, it seems, are RHINESTONE TIGHTS!!! Well, not for long!

A fall must-own:

i mean, really? AreYouKiddingMe?? these are fantastic! while we're at it, these have to be in my collection as well. that's right, have to.

Now, I just have to start saving up slash reminding boyfriend/mom/friends/all family members that either pair of these tights would be the best.gift.ever.

To buy (which you should, especially if you are buying for me) please go to PixieMart. And check out the rest of the sight, too. You'll find lots of super awesome things--like this (I'll take one in medium, please).

TARGARTE

the genius behind WHITE LIGHTNING coined that little diddy and it is fair to say that everyone should jump on board for that one.

so what is targarte, you might ask??? it is the much anticipated collaboration between rodarte and target for the their "go international" line. rodarte is a fashion and accessories line launched in 2005 by sisters kate and laura mulleavy. their line started as a 10 piece collection and has grown to be one of the most promising, up-and-coming brands around town. always edgy and cool, the sisters infuse tough glam into intricate and feminine and often romantic dresses. the result is phenomenal. for realz, just take a look:

the ratty tights? cutout leggings?? leather boot/pants?? somehow rodarte makes it look delicate and ladylike, and needless to say: i love it.

so natch when i heard about the upcoming collabo with target i was stoked! i have found some awesome things there (never underestimate the targé), but there really is no denying the fact that the less than runway-ready materials can have a fatal impact on a designers' collection. take the alexander mcqueen for target collection. it was pretty. and it was also pretty bad. mcqueen cuts are not going to hold up with stiff cotton and elastic. nothing fit right, the materials looked cheap, and it was an overall disappointment (to me anyways). On the otherrrrrr hand, we have lines like thakoon (surprisingly awesome) and proenza schouler (classic). I have pieces from those collections that have withstood the test of time and wear and sometimes being left in a pile on the floor (oops!). i am hoping TARGARTE falls into the latter of the two possibilities. i wouldn't mind, however, if targarte fell into the third category: looks great but falls apart. sometimes it is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all. or love and lose, then take to the cobbler so you can love them again. like these sigerson morrison for target electra booties:

one of my most prized target finds, i hurried right over to the cobbler after i broke the heel last weekend and continued to go out saturday night. nbd, they're all fixed now! on a sidenote, when i was cruising for a picture of these i found out a lot of people thought they were awful and was like "reaaallllly?!? they're actually kindof awesome." whatevs.

and so, my dear sisters mulleavy, it is up to you to do us right by your TARGARTE collection. make us look like a badass glamorous zombie from the future, but please don't make us look broke. thanks!
