paint a black hole blacker

i've been feeling lately that my wardrobe is a little stagnant...it's like everything i put together is one of the "go-to's" i mentioned earlier. that, and the fact that tuesday's sweater dress made me crave something loose and light, lead to me to this all-black ensemble. i was stoked to see that tieka had the same sort of conundrum on the same day AND that fabsugar is doing an all-month-all-black challenge!

party on

today officially is officially the beginning of the non-stop holiday party marathon. for the next week, my schedule is jam-packed with one christmas fete after another. naturally, i'll be shopping my closet for most of the outfits (and maybe even recycing outfits, shhhh don't tell!)...but this doesn't stop me from a little online window shopping! here are my holiday picks from modcloth--which, btdubs, is the best place for online window shopping. i'm going east this year to celebrate with my man's fam, so i incorporated some more casual dresses for the laid back parties i have been told to expect.

styling tips: black opaque tights and patent flats or heels--both wardrobe stables-- would go perfectly with all of these ensembles. also, try layering! a thin turtleneck under dress #4 or pullover sweater over dress #2 would be fun and warming tricks. don't forget the jewels...a statement necklace and brooches would knock any of these dresses out of the ballpark, and make them your signature style!

which one is your fave? have any winter styling tips?

1. freda the snowlady dress, $89.99.
2.the royal park dress in richmond, $84.99
3. sally jane dress, $89.99
4. geometry sweater dress, $52.99.
5. the kindness dress, $59.99

you only want what you can't have

you know that saying? well i can attest that is does not only apply to babies and/or lovelorn teenagers. i recently had to tighten the old purse strings and really watch what i am spending. which for me is just not spending at all, i can't do that only spend a little junk. i can justify too many things. this started this weekend and i was very good: i was at school, then a concert, then home, and the park all weekend. no opportunity to shop. well monday morning rolled around and my wishlist is all of a sudden miles long and full of things i actually must have NOW.

1. lessons on how to "slappa tha bass." for reals, i really want to learn how to play. bad enough that i air-bass in the shower (tmi?)

ok that's it for now, but i know i can think of more. i cannot wait till i balance my budget or close the deficit or whatever it is they do. private sector?

who's that driving? patrick swayze

whew, what a day! not gonna lie, i got a case of the mondays pretty bad this week. i mean, a killer weekend followed by daylight savings, warm weather, and piles of projects does not make it easy to sit behind a desk all day. but when i got home i decided to have some fun with matt's camera and i think it turned out kinda tight! i don't really know how to deal with settings on the camera, so i got this kinda ghosty effect. you like?

cruisin for a bruisin

last night I worked late at an event at my store (not mine like i own it, mine like it owns me. as in, where i work). i'm in charge of rsvps and checking people in. i'm kinda like a bouncer but i can't be as mean as i would like. instead, i look pretty and smile and greet people but if you're crashing my party i'll give you staredown so hard it'll bruise! trust me, you don't want to see it.

when i got home at 9:30 last night i asked matt to take outfit pics because i felt so darn pretty!
